There is over 100 years of history for a lot of these teams in their current leagues. The Astros are relatively newcomers to the NL, even though they have been in it for 50 years.

2. The divisions should all have 5 teams. Period.

3. What they are moving to is much better than your proposition.

4. Personal opinion, if a city has 2 teams (NY, LA, Chicago, DC kind of) then those 2 teams should be in different leagues.

5. The Astros won't be adding that many 9:05 games to their schedules (10 -15). That excuse is overblown. Besides, they played in the NL West for 30+ years against SD, LA and SF, and it worked just fine.

Re: On Falling in Love with Jesus

Jason,
I apparently didn't have replies forwarded & then lost this blog/post. I'm just now seeing your reply. I appreciate where you're coming from, although I still think the song, heard in the middle of other "Jesus is my boyfriend" songs on say... a mega CCM network might be taken differently than you intended. Clearly, I've taken it differently than you intended too. Sorry 'bout that. Also, sorry I came across so strongly. May I say that (in the time since) I've come to absolutely LOVE "I Am New" & "Remind Me Of Who I Am" & have tried to increase the awareness of both online. I appreciate your willingness to engage, especially with those of us who didn't "get it" or see things differently. I have read others who have treated this topic in a less "popular" manner. I listened intently because I have heard many people quote it to me recently (out of work, looking for Church to work for). They were using it with the right intention (to encourage me) but it is not the right passage to quote (I would prefer Philippians 4:10-13 in dealing with contendeness).

I was pleased to read your reminder that God is not in the business of magically removing our earthly problems. It is so often through such trials that our faith is refined and purified. I would rather deal with 100 problems a day with God than have 1 day without Him.

My very simple take on Romans 8:28 is that what we do for God is good. It serves Him. It is our honour to work for the furtherance of His kingdom. God saved me through Christ's redemptive work therefore God has worked out something good in my life - receiving Christ by faith.

Just my simple thought on your post. I really enjoyed reading it (your post I mean).

Re: Grow: Reproducing through Organic Discipleship

think that they just added the word "organic," the rest of the book is nothing more than what has been espoused by most institutional churches: "reaching people in evangelism and missional ministry; new believers are connected through assim...ilation; believers grow through small groups, bible studies, and serving; and disciples are reproduced through mentoring and leadership development." I did not see anything about learning to live by Christ's life together freely in face to face participation which is the essence of living organically by the Spirit.

Re: Engage Online Discipleship

there is a monvee iphone app

Re: Merry Christmas from the Wallaces

We love you guys too!

Re: Merry Christmas from the Wallaces

Love it love it love it! Christian/Gospel lyrics should never have to be explained. In my former job as a Christian radio station music director, I tried to choose and play music that was distinctly Christian; in other words, can the listener tell that the song is a Christian song within 30 to 60 seconds? Or do the lyrics require explanation? I tried to go with the former--and got fired. Oh, well. The Gospel continues to be watered down in the Christian music/entertainment industry....

Re: Mike Ribeiro Highlights

that one where he turned around and put it between his legs then fliped it off his pads was unbelievable....its like he knew it was gonna bounce up like that and just role in....it takes some confidence to do that

Re: Russell Moore looks at Glenn Beck

I'll be honest - I'm not a big Beck fan. I think he could have been much more effective if he would have become the Conservative version of John Stewart rather than trying to be the leader of a movement. Beck's radio show still has some hilarious moments, but he was much more in his element 2-3 yrs ago when he put more of an emphasis on his humor rather than trying to educate everyone on the history of the Progressive Movement in America. It's interesting that you bring up Beck's Mormonism (although he emphasizes it much less these days). About 15 yrs ago, Rodney Stark wrote a very compelling book, The Rise of Christianity, where he tracked the growth of Christianity from 30 AD to 313 AD. One of the conclusions he came to was that in contemporary America, if there is a group that is growing at the same rate and in the same ways as the Early Church within the Roman Empire, it's the Mormons. When you listen to what Beck is "preaching," it isn't distinctively Mormon, but rather a return to what used to be referred to as Civil Religion. There's nothing wrong with Civil Religion - it's part of the glue that holds the Republic together. But we can never mistake Civil Religion for Authentic Christianity - that was the mistake the mainline churches made - and it left them with no Gospel to proclaim.

Re: Engage Online Discipleship

People and Organizations tend to achieve what they measure. A personalized and customized approach has a lot of advantages. If this is like MONVEE the church gets a lot a feedback on how the congregation is maturing. This is a very needed tool in my opinion.
